About Mary Capriole
I currently live in Haverhill, Massachusetts with my husband and our Jack Russell Terrier. My art work is a way for me to investigate and study my interests more deeply. Form becomes a reflection of the society, culture, and period which has captured my imagination. Portraits are intense; still life is carefully constructed. Machinery is extreme in detail, and jarring in whole view. All are a way for me to study each subject always focused on the way colors relate to each other, with their interplay of light and shadow. My body of work represents past and present popular culture -- how humans relate with each other, with nature, and with machinery. Whether I work with clay, oil paint or a camera, my intent is to capture the spirit of the subject matter. I tend to work quickly so as not to lose the emotional intensity of the moment.
All original art work is for sale unless otherwise noted.
